I’ve been very privileged to get an invite to Godiva Chocolate & Ramos Pinto Port tasting that was organised as part of the Meet the Makers Week at Selfridges. That was a truly special experience that took me on an unforgettable journey to the mysterious vineyards of Portugal and Belgium most closely- guarded chocolate making traditions. I found myself in a magical “laboratory” of the most sophisticated science of matching chocolate with wine where a total ” fresher” like me got helplessly enchanted by dazzling aromas and heavenly tastes of the vintage ports and chocolate truffles – a task to choose the best combination between a selection of eight premium chocolates and six award – winning ports was simply impossible. Our “tutor”Sarah Jane Evans introduced us to a whole new world of Port and Chocolate inviting us to explore completely new palettes of tastes and smells, using Black and White magic of Orangette and Mokolata chocolates and matching them with ethereal vintage and towny ports like an expert – ” alchemist”. An unforgettable master class which turned me from an unskilful beginner to a real connoisseur ( with a progressing addiction to a good chocolate and wine.
