Well, H&M did it again. It’s been 10 years since the swedish clothing giant started collaborating with the most famous fashion designers, marking the beginning of a new high street fashion epoch with Karl Lagerfield’s collection in 2004. Still being faithful to the brand style ethics H&M somehow managed to create something that many considered impossible back then – together with the designers they have tackled the challenge of making high fashion ” accessible” for everybody. Some collections have been designed exclusively for H&M ( like Izabel Marant’s “one-off”men’s collection in 2013), while other times, like in the case of Maison Martin Margiela in 2012, it has been more of “inspired by the brand”. My favourite collaborations are Victor&Rolf (2006), Lanvin (2010), Marni (2012) and Isabel Marant (2013) but saying that I always try to get my hands on every collection that comes out. I still wear and consider myself very lucky to have all those “little designer pleasures” from the previous years collaborations in my wardrobe. I waited for the whole year for the 2014 collection to come out and I must say it was a very unexpected, edgy and glamorous take on sports wear by Alexander Wang. To be honest, I didn’t like all the pieces from it but still woke up early to visit my local H&M to be presented at the launch of the collection. By the time we got there hardly anything was left but I still managed to buy some of the pieces ( woohoo!) I really look forward to seeing ( and buying) more H&M designer collaborations in the future and am hoping it’s gonna be Balenciaga, D&G and Gucci.
See you soon my lovely readers!
