I finaly took a plunge and purchased my very first pair of culottes. This month I’m taking a break and am challenging myself to wear something different from skinny and mum jeans.
The fact that culottes have a great feminist backstory is no surprise to me , having become popular in Victorian England for allowing ladies to secretly wear shorts while it looked like they were wearing skirts, culottes acted as ‘divided skirts’ and were trousers in disguise that let women ride horses and play tennis.
I love these jeans simply because I can were them with heels, sneakers and flats. I found mine at River Island and they also come in blue, light blue and black denim. I pared my look with 70’s vibe clear lens blown aviator style sunglasses by Jeepers Peepers which are perfect to be worn even indoors. To me sunglasses are more than just an accessory, some people don’t realise but sunnies can easily transform your look and add a lot of character to it.
I don’t think I need to introduce you to my all time favourite “Biker Bag” by Moschino. It was designed by creative director Jeremy Scott for SS15 fashion show and I was lucky enough to score this tote at Manchester’s Harvey Nichols store.
