On the 20th of November I attended an award winning upcycled fashion show at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Manchester .The event showcased upcycled designer collections from :MIA By Mia Nesbit, Adan Bayyat, TRAIDremade, Zolibeau, Junk Shop, Goodone and Tracey Cliffe. The collections looked absolutely fantastic . FACTS. I was soo surprised to find out that in Greater Manchester we purchase 90,000 tonnes of new clothing a year and throw away the equivalent weight of 11800 elephants.. Wow, that’s just mad! So the show was very very inspiring to me. I definitely decided to stop buying tops and jumpers which i have tooo many of. Also, I was delighted to meet a lovely team from Dress for Success . Their mission is to provide professional clothing , interview training and a support network for women. The idea itself and how this lovely people help get unemployed women confident to follow their own path and get a successful job is great. The results are brilliant: 1 in 2 women styled by team will go on to get the dream job! By the way, Manchester is the only city with a Dress to Success in England while there are also centres in New York, Paris and Amsterdam. I was impressed by collections showcases at the show and the highlight was the collection by Internationally famous Adan Bayyat’s 40’000 paper clips dress and Tracey Cliffe Love Me Again wedding dress from Newspaper stole the show. So here’s my photo diary of what went on .
