Hello my lovely fashionistas. Today I want to blog about something quite different to my usual blog posts about fashion. When I was offered to try out a 2 day skiing course for beginners at the Chill Factore I was over the moon as always wanted to learn to ski and I’m very thankful for this unique opportunity to have come by me.
Before the Bank Holiday Weekend I headed to the Chill Factore to start my skiing course . Even though I am a big fan of winter sports and a keen skater I haven’t actually done any skiing before so was a little hesitant about it , but somehow I managed to overcome my fear and decided to give it a go and I’m so glad I did, it was unforgettable 2 days full of fan!
On my first day we arrived well before our course (you should allow about 45 minutes before your lesson to be able to change into skiing gear ) You can rent out all the skiwear that you’ll need at the Chill Factore and if you are taking a skiing or snowbording course your gear will be included in your 2 day pass. After getting into our professional skiing wear we were greeted by our skiing instructor Eugene and after a small introduction our group of 4 people with all our skiing equipment headed into the “unknown” territory of the ski slope. Eugene explained us the basics of skiing such as keeping the skis parallel to your hips and bending your knees slightly which sounded quite straight forward but when we started practicing by sliding downhill it proved to be quite challenging to me! But as we all know, practise makes everything better and by sliding for 2 hours which was quite a fun experience I made some good progress before we went on an hour break.
In the next 2 hours our group was sliding like a pro. The most important move you should always remember is to get your ski tips close to each other and spread your legs quite wide to form “V” figure, once you mastered this you start feeling super confident and all your initial fears disappear
On our final day 2 of the beginners ski course we had a different instructor Steve, who showed us how to turn preparing us for a “real” skiing. It felt rather scary at the beginning but by the end of the second day we even tried to slide from the main slope ( there’s a small part on the main slope which beginners can use).
It was absolutely amazing to be able to learn a completely new experience in a space of 2 days & 8 hours in total. With the help of our professional instructors Eugene & Steven I am now totally capable of skiing properly and can’t wait to try my new skills at some winter resort. I would definitely advise visiting Chill Factore website where you can book your snowboard or ski courses.
